From an early age, my dad taught my brother and me how to care for and rebuild classic wooden cruisers. Nearly every sunny summer day was spent cruising the Puget Sound aboard the 1957 Owens you see below. The photo on the left, taken around 1991 when I was 14, captures those earlier years, while the one on the right is from last summer, 2024—a testament to the enduring love we have for these boats. Over the years, we’ve dedicated countless hours to maintaining and restoring these wooden classics. Like a true obsession, I caught the wooden boat bug early, and to this day, there are only a few of us left who truly appreciate these floating works of art and are committed to keeping them alive for future generations.
